A funny and cute tale about a little girl with a banana obsession. ⠀ Alana discovers that there are no bananas left in the grocery stores, because a storm has ruined the banana crops in Costa Rica. Her mother and father rush around to find bananas but they can’t find any. Alana refuses to eat anything else and her parents are worried on how to feed her. They rush to find a creative solution: (read the book to find out how they convince Alana to eat other foods).⠀ ⠀ While this book is not overtly Islamic, it does hint at Islamic ideas like eating the variety of food that Allah has blessed us with. ⠀ The book also brings up important issues like compost (recycling fruits and vegetables to use for things such as plant fertilizations) and taking care of nature. ⠀ ⠀ And it teaches kids about the love and care that parents have towards their children and how they fear for their well-being and nutrition.⠀ ⠀ My kids loved the silliness of Alana and the bright pictures of the book. They related to her struggle to eat new foods and they giggled at the creative way her parents introduced her to new foods. Such a cute book! ⠀

Hilarious but gets some important points across. 1. Where do our bananas come from (Guatemala ?) ? ;) . I think it just creates an environment to have that conversation about local home grown food vs. imported food ,etc. 2. Having a balanced diet. 3. How did those parents get other food into those banana peels ? ;) And so ... so many more :)

My daughter has a soft spot for Alana as her best friend is also named Alana. Don't you love books that help you get your kids to eat a larger variety of foods? I love the lessons in this book and Alana is so endearing! And yes we save the banana skins for composting, did you know the inside of the skin great to stop the itchiness of mosquito bites?

This is my son's all time favourite book. We have quite a few books from this website and we enjoy all them Alhamdulillah. But he still asks to read this one over and over again no matter how many other great stories we read. Masha'Allah. It's a funny story about a girl who learns to eat different foods the hard way. We've managed to instil in our son the fun of trying different foods alhamdulillah. Always a great fun read.

My kids smiled and laughed throughout this sweet book, they really enjoyed reading it, and my 3 yr old kept wanting me to read it over and over. Important lesson tp the picky eaters about trying new things bc hey, the food item may just run out The recipe at the end is the perfect addition, as a related baking activity

The front cover appealed to my daughter instantly and made her laugh. She was engaged and interested till the end. It’s about a girl who just wants to eat bananas. Then bananas go out of stock- big problem both for her and her parents. Nice story about a struggling and picky eater and how parents really do all they can to get healthy food down the throats of their children. The father is shown to be as concerned as the mother. Overall, it was a funny, weird and engaging story with a reminder about eating a healthy and varied diet. Jazakum Allahu khairan!

My two girls (6 and 4) loved reading this. Especially for my older one, who could eat bananas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

This was a unique story about a girl struggling to try new foods while being obsessed with bananas. The hilarious story incorporates original thinking, creativity and inspires kids to try new things, and maybe try cooking while at it.

This was my kids favorite- even my 9 year old’s! They couldn’t stop laughing with the gross examples, like the lasagne with bananas and the banana peels stuffed with other stuff! And it encourages my 5 year old to eat!
