Robyn Thomas enjoys spending time with her family and two cats, reading, and being creative. Rami the Ramadan Cat is based on her own real-life experience! A lost orange and white kitten came to stay with her family on the very first day of Ramadan several years ago.

Saleem is a young boy who has moved to a new town before Ramadan, and he misses his cousins and friends that he left behind. He meets a little lost kitten and calls him Rami, because it is “Ram”adan.⠀ ⠀ Rami helps Saleem feel not as lonely as before, and slowly, Saleem finds himself attached to his new friend.⠀ ⠀ Saleem helps his mom and dad put up posters of the cat around the neighborhood for people to see and for the owners to come and claim the cat. But secretly, Saleem makes a duaa that Rami can stay with him forever. ⠀ But then, Rami’s owner claims him and Saleem gets sad. Even the Eid decor and Eid pie can’t cheer him up. Saleem is surprised when Rami comes back on Eid day, and it looks like Saleem might get the best Eid gift ever after all!⠀ ⠀ I loved this story and the lessons it taught about doing the right thing, even if you might not want to. This is so important to teach to children, and even though it might be a struggle, it is always worth it to act morally, just like Saleem did in the book. Being good is always rewarded by Allah!⠀ ⠀ I also liked the concept of duaa in the story. The duaa Saleem made really did come true in the end- he was actually able to keep his friend forever! I love teaching children about the power of duaa and to always to turn to Allah when they want something. ⠀ DEF a must have!⠀

This a beautiful story from a child's perspective of finding a new home and his new cat.

This beautiful story will absolutely make your heart feel warm and fuzzy inside. Highlights so many basic but incredibly important lessons of family, selflessness, kindness, compassion and of course faith and prayers. It's very common and natural that kids think of themselves and their desires before fully understanding the bigger picture. My favourite part of the story is that Saleem, through his own experience, is critically and compassionately relating his emotions to Rami's. This is brilliant. I love that the story is set in Ramadan but it is not the centre of it. The prayer, Qur'an reading and taraweeh are, again, part of the story naturally, but not the main theme. It is simply a normal part of their daily life. I love that Rami's owner is presented to be in a wheelchair in such an ordinary way. She is visually shown but not textually discussed which leaves such an open conversation for the parents to have with their children as they read. Also, how amazing are the illustrations? I haven't figured out why but I seem to favour the illustrations on white background instead of them taking every bit of space from one corner of the page to the other. I truly love Ramadan stories and this is one of them. 💕

Very moving and inspirational story with expressive pictures. My two year grandson chooses it often to be read to him and recognizes when Saleem is sad. Thanks.

Enjoyed the story and illustrations so much - it's such a warm, sweet story and I think the author's feelings really come through. And the setting of Ramadan really brings home the overall message as well. Super proud to see this and the other books being published for the young generation of Muslims, that those of us who are older didn't have growing up. I congratulate the author and the company for publishing this book. We need more like this for the current and future generations, so our stories are heard, especially in times like these. Well done Sister Robyn! Very happy for you for this dream coming true! :)

Ms. Alyasi.
My kids really enjoyed this book and were really able to relate to being in a new place and the loneliness it brings, but also to the power of duaa and the powerful effects it has, they're eyes grew so worried when he had to give Rami back, but lit up when they saw the prayers answered and unqiue friendship reunited

A heart warming and beautiful story that deals with the struggles of loneliness and the power of an unlikely friend. I love these stories for many reasons, but my children identify with these characters on another level. The added bonus of seeing these beloved characters engage in prayer, look and speak like them- is a blessing without measure. My daughter was able to express her pains of loneliness through the experience of Saleem. They all lit up and remembered the beautiful time of Ramadan that previously passed and felt sad saleem couldnt truly enjoy himself as they had. Amazing and adorable story of finding friends. Buy this, it will be a fast family favorite
