Our Story: Why We Publish Muslim Children’s Books
Hello, I'm Asmaa Hussein, the founder (and Director of Awesomeness) of Ruqaya's Bookshelf, a wholesome publishing company based in Canada.
Since 2015, my mission has been to create Muslim children's books that not only entertain but also inspire faith and help build strong character.
As a mother, I understand how important it is to provide books that reflect our values and culture, which is why every book we create features Muslim characters and protagonists.
Representation matters, and seeing someone who looks like you in a storybook is an experience that can truly empower children.
At Ruqaya's Bookshelf, we believe that Islamic children's books do more than tell stories—they teach valuable lessons about kindness, respect, faith, and personal growth.
Our books are carefully designed to nurture a child’s character while providing fun, adventurous, and heartwarming tales that children will cherish for years.
Each of our Islamic kids' books is a step toward building a generation of proud, confident Muslim children who see themselves as the heroes of their own stories.
After my devotion to God, my daughter Ruqaya is my greatest source of inspiration. As a widowed mother raising a beautiful and spirited girl, I strive to show her the importance of dedication, determination, and excellence.
Ruqaya’s love for books is endless, and that’s why I named this company after her—she is my greatest motivation and the heart of our mission.
So come on in, pull up a chair, and set foot in our world of Muslim children's books.
Explore our Islamic children's books, enjoy our stories, and join us in nurturing the next generation of young Muslims who will grow up strong in faith and full of imagination!
