I love this book! It's the perfect way to teach kids about appreciation of your blessings without being in the least preachy. I wish I could give it 10 stars.

I feel living in a small town…my 6 year old boy can relate to this book a lot. This book is about missing out in life and how it bothers us as we all have fear of missing out in life. It teaches us about how we have to be thankful at all times.

-

Mehwish Obaid

This book is so powerful in such an approachable way for kids to understand and explore emotions that are okay to feel and how to cope with them.

A beautiful story to introduce the concept of optimism :)

This story book is a great lesson for the little ones who are still trying to make sense of their emotions. Additionally, it serves as a great reminder to us as well because every single one of us has been guilty of it at some point in our lives. 📚 When Zaid finds out that his much anticipated camping trip is cancelled, he is devastated. A gray cloud develops and grows above his head as he is confronted with his negative thoughts and mood. He is able to overcome this dark state of mind on his own as he discovers the positive aspects of his surroundings. 📚 This book carries an essential message. I really enjoyed the fact that in this story, the protagonist works through his own overwhelming emotion instead of an adult advising him through it, which is what we typically see in most books. 📚 An excellent book. 👌

Muslim Kids Book Nook

This was an important teaching tool for me, my kids understood how sometimes they carry their emotions and how heavy that burden can be, it brought self-awareness of their own emotions. My 4 year old son now regularly expresses how he feels, another loved book in our house.

A great book for all in how to handle disappointments. Masha'Allah loved the great message this book portrays. It has helped my 3 year old understand how always being upset and angry can have a negative effect on a person for the rest of the day. We have used the grey cloud example many times with our son and Masha'Allah it resonates with him. There are many lessons to be learnt from this book. One being how to see the brighter side of things. The character in the book Zaid slowly starts to see blessings in the things he first considered a disaster. Another big lesson is how helping others will always make a person happy and cheerful. Masha'Allah amazing books that we always turn to.

Emotions can be hard to handle, esp negative ones. Thank you for showing them what happens if they allow it to get too far, and also how to pop that bubble (or cloud) they can get themselves under. Couldn't be portrayed better, Thank you. Read it when one of the kiddos was quite upset and the rest of the day followed and the message really helped

I truly enjoyed this book, and I've shared it with many kids in my life. I love how Zaid handles his disappointment, and the lesson about helping others is spot-on. This is a great book for building emotional intelligence.

This book kept both my 6 year old and 2.5 year old engaged and entertained. My son loved the fact that he and the main character have the same name. The author does an excellent job of exploring perspective through the joy and disappointment of a little boy over the course of a day.

-

Saman

My kid Zayd loved reading a book with his namesake. The book cleverly approached dealing with anger and letting things go.

-

Sharmin Hakim

This was a great book that all my children enjoyed. A great lesson in teaching children to deal with disappointment.

This is a great book, especially for my younger child (age 5). It’s a nice way to teach kids that it’s ok and normal to feel disappointment, frustration, sadness and anger, too have a “bad” day. It then shows good ways to learn and to make the most of what you have…to see the bright side of things. Highly recommended!

This is wonderful story about Zaid, who is very excited for his annual family camping trip with his cousin. The one where they roast marshmallows and laugh all night. Zaid has been crossing off the days on his calendar in anticipation. You can probably guess what happens next. The trip is canceled. This causes Zaid to lose sleep, become irritable, and start viewing everything from the weather, to his seat on the bus ride to school, negatively. And this thought process causes a large gray cloud to start growing over him, complete with rain and thunderbolts. It isn’t until he has an interaction with a hurt bird that he starts to reverse this negativity. He starts to try again and make the best of the situations he’s facing, each time causing the cloud to shrink, until it disappears. This is a fantastic book that definitely helps illustrate the concept of growth mindset.
