Your Dhul Hijjah 2025 Reset — Even If You’re Not Going for Hajj
Every year around this time, our feeds light up with powerful moments—pilgrims circling the Kaaba, standing on the sunlit plains of Arafah, and raising their hands in tearful du’a. Dhul Hijjah 2025 is just around the corner, and with it comes one of the most spiritually significant periods of the Islamic calendar.
But what about those of us not going for Hajj this year? How can we make the most of the blessings of this month from home?
Allah’s mercy isn’t confined to the boundaries of Makkah. The 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are for all of us. These are days to reset our hearts, refresh our faith, and realign with our purpose.
So if you’re not packing your bags for Hajj—pack your days with intention. We’re in this together. Let’s make Dhul Hijjah 2025 count, right from where we are.
Why the First 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah Are So Special
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.”
—[Bukhari]
That includes fasting, prayer, charity, dhikr, kindness—even looking at your child with a smile.
Yes, even your regular, messy, everyday life is part of this blessing if you bring it to Allah. And it doesn’t have to be perfect. Just sincere.
So, let’s walk through some ways we can honor these days, grow in them, and draw closer to the One who gave them to us.
Dhul Hijjah 2025 from Home
Dhul Hijjah 2025 is expected to begin on May 28, marking the start of these ten blessed days. Even if we're not on the pilgrimage, we can still engage in acts that draw us closer to Allah.
Start with Dhikr
This is one of the easiest yet most powerful actions we can do—and it takes no extra time. Throughout the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, let’s make it a habit to say:
Takbeer: Allahu Akbar
Tahleel: La ilaha illallah
Tahmeed: Alhamdulillah
Tasbeeh: SubhanAllah
Say them while driving. Cooking. Folding laundry. Walking. It all has immense rewards.
Fast What You Can—Especially the Day of Arafah
Try to fast any or all of the first nine days—but if there’s one day to circle on your calendar, it’s the Day of Arafah (expected on June 5, 2025).
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Fasting on the day of Arafah expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year.”
—[Muslim]
That’s two years. In one day.
If you’ve missed fasts from Ramadan, consider making them up now too. But even one voluntary fast, with the right intention, can be a beautiful offering.
Give, Even If It’s Small
Generosity doesn’t have to be grand. A donation, a meal, a sincere prayer for someone else...it all counts!
Let’s aim to give something each of these 10 days. Here are ideas:
Support a local family.
Give to your masjid or a relief organization.
Drop off groceries for a neighbor.
Sponsor a child’s school supplies.
No amount is small when given from the heart.
Offer Qurbani (Udhiya)
If you have the means, consider offering a Qurbani (Udhiya) this year. It’s a reminder of surrender, just like Ibrahim (AS) showed us. It’s a beautiful sunnah of feeding families and drawing closer to Allah.
And if you can’t afford it this year, that’s okay... Allah sees your niyyah. Make the intention and encourage someone else to do it.
Family Time
Involve your family in the spirit of Dhul Hijjah. Tell your kids the story of Hajar and Zamzam. Host a mini “Hajj Day” with tents and pretend safas and marwahs.
Stay Connected Through Worship and Community
If we can’t go to Makkah, we can still turn our homes into mini sanctuaries.
Pray in jama’ah at home or your local masjid.
Listen to a Hajj khutbah or dhul hijjah series online.
Message a friend and encourage them to fast with you.
Host a small gathering with Qur’an recitation or reflection.
The more we remind each other, the more the blessings grow.
Let’s Make Dhul Hijjah 2025 Count
While we may not be in Makkah, the doors to spiritual elevation are wide open. By embracing the virtues of the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, we draw nearer to Allah and enrich our faith.
