An insightful book with an in-depth understanding of the journey of losing a loved one and coping up with the tragedy. Reading this book made me have a broader perspective of reality of life that we may at times wish to hide away from or neglect in most cases. Understanding and accepting the divine decree of Allaah when calamities are befallen is something that people usually find very difficult to cope up with and move on. This book contains loads of wisdom and lessons to learn from the life of Asmaa Hussain, and how she faced the tragedy and her healing and seeing the sun rise again. It was beautiful that her daughter, Ruqayah, was a main part of her life that made her want to move on and grow for her, and it was a big motivation for her to be a strong women for her daughter. What amazed me was that she took the demise of her beloved husband as a mercy in disguise from Allaah, and that she hopes for the reward of the hardship she faced in this world and constantly makes dua for him and ease for him during the day of recompense.

Such a beautiful and soulful read ! It kept me inspired throughout with the beauty of Allah’s mercy and magic ! I already have 4 friends in line waiting for this one ! I read and re-read passages, it makes you think and feel thoroughly connected on variously levels with Allah! Bless you both and Amr. May you all be reunited in Jannah one day !

I read this book last month, a page a day. I'm still going back to it, a page or two a day. I have been through some traumatic moments recently but in these pages, I found healing, I found mercy, I found understanding, I found God's love and embrace. Painful but necessary reading for anyone who needs an attitude adjuster. I read it in one sitting, and bought another copy for my sister. In fact, this should be required for all Muslims. It is so well written and brings the reality and truth of this life into very sharp focus. May Allah reward this young woman, as well as her loved ones all of our sisters and brothers making sacrifices on the daily for a better world and a better afterlife. I plan to re-read again.

Very well written and once I started to read it, it was hard to put it down. I think after reading this book my faith in Allah has increased even more. I definitely would recommend this book to others!

I received this book as a gift and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. Allhumdulillah! I really needed this boost of Iman. This book has really touched my heart and soul. Wonderful reminders and pearls of wisdom given throughout the book, on how to understand our tests, gratitude, sabr, and love for Allah (swt). 💛

I can’t recommend this book highly enough. An inspiration on every page about how to maintain or revive connection with Allah in the face of tremendous challenges. I won't regurgitate what others have said before. I agree wholeheartedly that Asma's words are the comforting hug that many who deal with personal loss seek. But rather I would highlight that her words go beyond just comforting those who have lost someone dear to them. She tells the story of how she rose back up after a heart breaking tragedy

I have just finished reading the book. I found it to be extremely genuine and written from the heart. While the words themselves were easy to read, they are a constant reminder of the immense love this lady holds for her beloved and the pain she must have endured and lived over and over writing them. It is a beacon of hope for those lost in despair and darkness. The pages strewn with verses of the Glorious Quran and the words of our sweet prophet constantly remind us to hope for the best, that everything belongs to Him and His decision and will is paramount and we as humans - no matter how much claim to be powerful - are powerless against it. I wish the best for Asmaa and Ruqaya and wish the rest of their lives are happy, blessed and fulfilling and that Allah give them strength, patience and perseverance in the worldly challenges ahead. And I pray for them to be reunited with their beloved Amr in their afterlife. And I wish for Amr nothing less than the company of our beloved prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Insha'Allah.

To be honest I started reading this book just to pass my time in Quarantine and I had no idea that this will change my life to 360 degree . 3 years back my uncle died who was healthy young man and than 1 year back my father died . We somehow stood up and It was indeeed Allah who gave whole family the strength to accept this bitter reality that our happy family is no more a happy family .we were broken inside . DO you feel the pain of mother who lost his both sons in the time when she needed them the most , who was widowed in her youth and invested her everything on her children and at the time when she expected to get the fruit of her struggle , she was standing bare handed . Do you feel the loss of a sister who was pampered by her brothers and she found all the relations in them . Do you feel the pain of their wives who are young with the children who were orphaned . This is our story . We were somehow always complaining Allah that why he did this to us.This book changed my perspective. It poured positivity in my heart and vision . I must say It helped me to find Allah and come closer to the deen . I pray that may your husband is blessed with everything best in hereafter .May Allah make your family succeed in every thing and may HE reunite you in Jannah Last thing I really appreciate every thing of your husband what a righteous man he was .I wish to write an article on his character, breaking the stereotypes ,he gave the goals to us .May Allah bless him .

This book is an incredible insight into one women's beautiful relationship with her husband and the beautiful patience and faith in Allah she exhibits upon his departure. I read the entire book in two days because it was so captivating! It truly uplifted my spirits and provided such powerful reminders that we need to trust in Allah's plan no matter what happens. To Him belongs all life and to Him we shall return. We cannot get too attached to this Dunya and this book reminded me to do just that.

How do I begin.. When scrolling through comments on a YouTube video about loss, someone mentioned this book. A few clicks further, I looked at the summary and I ordered the pdf version. Read the whole book in less than a couple of days. This book is a treasure, a hidden gem, I am forever grateful to have stumbled upon it. Asmaa absolutely stunned me with her ability to reach me in the deepest parts of my heart. I can't describe the feeling. I felt closer to Allah swt, to my deen, to my purpose... My real purpose. As if your soul finally gets her sip of water after being thirsty for a long time, without realizing it was parched. Allahoma barek, I will definitely purchase the hard copy. I had purchased this book for a friend who was going through a hard time in life, but it was so deep and well-written that I ended up reading it in one day before handing it over. This beautiful read breaks your heart and heals it simultaneously. The most important lesson for me , in this book, was the importance of doing mundane things with ihsaan consistently. We don't necessarily need to be part of a big philanthropic project or life changing organisation to be worthy of Allah's love. If we worship him with love and deal with his creation with love, in our day to day life, we may get rewards beyond our imagination.

When I was ordering this book, for some strange reason I was compelled to order two instead of one. But 2 days into it and I am almost done reading the entire thing and it has honestly been one of the best things i have read! It has made me re-evaluate what I consider priorities and it is also the first book I have felt like I want to read again after some time. It is a mature book. Containing the incidents of dignified and honored lives. The uniqueness of this book is, it is a real incident and author shared it for the benefit of the society. After reading the book, incidents imprinted in my mind and heart. I went through a lot of emotional journey, best part is it converges to the best path. That is ‘Road of Emaan’ (devotion/faith). Book revolves around how an individual experiences different phases of life in quick succession? Happiness and Sadness are the two face values. and what is our take on with those face values determines our strength and weaknesses. Tackling such hard, critical situation without loosing patience, contentment and gratitude is a challenge. Such challenge is not one time task, it is a daily affair. Not everyone gets up back and do what is required after a calamity. If you want to know how it is done, You must read this book. This Book shows way to those who go through calamity in life and those who do not. Often we break down, rare we stand up. Sometimes, where we stand up also matters. It is deep. My review does not conclude what this book is. Who knows, you might discover what you were missing. Lastly, I would like to mention, this book gave me reason to embrace my life to the fullest. Alh.

I have been following Asmaa Hussein on Facebook for a while now. Her thoughtful, heart-wrenching statuses have always deeply affected me. When I heard that her book was coming out, I could hardly hold my excitement and had someone buy it especially and send it to me from the U.S. And it did not disappoint. It describes a love so poignant, it leaps through the pages and urges you to aspire to it in your marriage, a loss so numbing, it will leave you gasping for air as Asmaa describes the trauma she went through. But above all, it speaks of a healing so beautiful and potent, you will feel your faith reawaken- from the slumber that the everyday stresses and frivolities of life lull it into- well before you have turned the last page. I was in tears from the beginning and I could not read the book in one go, having to pause often to digest her words and internalize them. I cannot recommend this book enough-it has secured a permanent place on my bedside and it is one book I will take with me wherever I go.

I just purchased this book and I am hardly able to put it down. This book is an easy and inspiring book for anyone to read. It l has already inspired me in many ways. Most of all – to reflect and as a reminder of our purpose in life. It makes a you want to live life as best possible because it could very well be our last day with our lives to later be accounted for. This book is not just for someone who has gone through loss or experienced sadness.
