I've been pushing the power of positive thinking on my kids for a while now and this book really helps bring it into a scenario that can be easily referenced and understood for young kids! Framing it as gratitude is a very beautiful and important step, too, in order to always be grateful to Allah. :) I've referenced the gratitude glasses a couple times since reading the book to my kids and it has a great effect. We all loved this story.

We had been thinking of ordering from Ruqaya’s bookshelf for sometime now. I am so glad that we finally made our first purchase. This collection truly captivates my children. Mr. Gamal teaches the children about ‘looking at things in a different way’ (as my 9 year old puts it). The illustrations are lovely and the physical book quality is great. Would highly recommend! Thankful for such sweet books that have thoughtful content for these little minds.

This book is a wonderful lesson in gratitude for children, and a great reminder for parents. Mr. Gamal, a teacher, buys some colorful glasses from the dollar store and passes them out to his class. He tells them that when they face something negative in their life, to look through the colored lens and think of a positive thought in the situation. The kids present their experiences at the end of the week, and even teach Mr. Gamal a lesson about finding something positive when he find the class messy and disorganized This book is one of our favorites and the pictures are so goofy and cute! My kids even grabbed some sunglasses and started experimenting on their own, trying to find the positive in everything around them. May Allah help us all in finding the positive and being truly grateful to Allah for all that we have been blessed with. Alhamdulilah❤️

I love the way this books encourages us to have conversations with our kids on being able to shift our perspectives when something "bad" seems to happen. It captures the initial human emotions of sadness, frustration, etc which are normal and important to have but then is able to put event into perspective. Which is what life is all about.

A very clever lesson on gratitude, done in such a light sweet way. My six year old daughter requests it for story time over and over again and I’m always glad to read it. Funny and kind.

This book has proven to be an excellent addition to my office library in counseling children who may have trouble changing perspective. I especially love the Islamic/Muslim characters/references, perfect for my Muslim clients who don't get enough of that representation in children's books. Now, when I talk to my young clients, I can say, put on those "gratitude glasses"!

My youngest daughter (age 7) particularly loved this book and read it to almost everyone and anyone she could read it to. She now wants me to take her to the dollar store to get gratitude glasses! Loved the creativity in this book of getting the lesson of gratitude across to the readers.

I had read positive reviews about this book, but remained sceptical. As I wished to purchase several books at once I added this to the rest. I'm glad I did, as I was pleasantly surprised to see that the author didn't stick to the same old platitudes, but considered alternative perspectives, which add interest, depth, and credibility to the discerning reader (which my kids are).

This book could not have come to us at a better time! Reading this to my 7 and 5 year old opened up their eyes to the concept of gratitude in a way I never would have imagined. Its one thing having these conversations with kids, but seeing characters in books that look like them, coupled with the concepts covered in Mr Gamal's Gratitude Glasses, was something else altogether. Beautifully written, engaging and relatable on all levels. A MUST HAVE in all households :)

I got this book around Ramadan and it made for one of our favorite reads all through summer holidays . The book is about a teacher wanting to teach his students to appreciate the little things in life in an innovative and child friendly way and although this book full of Beautiful graphics is meant for kids , us adults sure will learn a thing or two about being grateful for all the little things in life that we take for granted and forget to thank our Lord for !

In our fast paced world, where social media is king and comparison is the norm, I’m always trying to teach my children to be grateful. Mr.Gamal’s Gratitude Glasses is a perfect, relatable story for children and adults alike. While we are taught about gratitude from a young age, the concept isn’t always easy to grasp for younger children. This book helps the process and my kids absolutely love it 💕

Mr. Gamals Gratitude glasses was such a good book especially for little kids. One reason is because it’s teachinh kids/adults to be thankful for what you have. Also it’s saying instead of looking at things in a bad way and throwing fit you should think about the pros so you will be happy 😃. My girls and I love this book! The story is wonderful (the details of the varying students’ thoughts in the classroom is so spot on!). I also love the high quality feel of the actual pages and the illustrations as well - they engage my 4 year old (who isn't able to read it on her own yet). As for my 7 year old, this is a favourite! Along with all the other Ruqaya bookshelf books. Thank you Asmaa for writing diverse children books that are fun, yet teach a lesson (not in the usual heavy handed way!).

This is my favourite book so far from Ruqaya’s Bookshelf, and always a hit with my kids. The lesson of gratitude and finding the good in all situations is so important for little ones (and adults too!), and it can be tricky to get that message across without sounding preachy. Asmaa does it so wonderfully and uses several great examples to help you connect with the characters and see that we’re all going through similar situations and there’s always something to be grateful for. Also, Mr. Gamal is a super cool guy, I wish I had a teacher like him when I was in school! 😎
